It was great! Good teacher
Thank you for focusing on issues with my strumming today. You were very helpful pointing out the changes I need to make to maintain rhythm.
Oh my goodness. I thought I had rhythm until I tried using my right hand as a metronome! Not as easy as you make it look, Rick. Thanks for your patience and many tips to try to achieve strumming rhythm!
Good lesson !!
Great lesson today. You always seem to able to simplify what looks to be the most complicated series of chords. Thanks once again!
Rick knows how to teach. He really knows how to play. Great combination for learning while enjoying the process.
Thanks Rick for a great lesson. You are one of the most patient people I know! Looking forward to learning a Christmas song, with more new chords.
Thank you for the words of encouragement today. Great lesson!
Good lesson. Very challenging song with more new skills. You will be a miracle worker if I can learn how to play this one!
Another great lesson. As always, Rick, you have come up with a challenging song to work on for the next few weeks. Hope I am able to master the first part for next week!
It was great
How'd we do? We did awesome! Thank you for the revised version of the song. That will be so helpful for learning the correct strumming pattern, instead of my version - LOL. Looking forward to next week's lesson.
it was great! I enjoy learning from home through skype.
Rick is just the best! So patient and always upbeat. I look forward to my lesson every week.
As always, today was a good lesson. I live the new song we are working on, and thank you for the positive feedback. It was encouraging! Also thank you for the advice on having my guitar set up. Your tech now has my guitar, so I am looking forward to hearing what he has to say. Thanks again!
It was great!! 👍 great teacher!!
Fun lesson today. I really enjoy the way you break the songs down into sections, in order to focus on specific skills. I also appreciate the constructive criticism as it helps me understand what I need to do to improve. Thanks again!
It was great! 😁👍
I really enjoy the online lessons. They allowed me to continue during covid and will let me have my lessons even if I'm sick in the future. The only problem I've had with the online lessons as opposed to IRL lessons has been playing a song that im learning with Rick in unison because of the slight delay.
This Skype lesson went very well. I had to change my lesson time a couple of times due to work commitments and Rick was very accommodating.
Thank you for your continuing patience. Great lesson today.
it was good! great way to learn!!
Transition to Skype Lessons was Painless! I missed having the lesson each week after everything shut down with Covid So it was great to re-connect with Rick on Skype and to keep improving my playing. It was easy to get skype going, I just followed the prompts on the screen. The video lesson went so smoothly,. I could easily see everything that Rick was doing and we could hear each other clear enough to play together and hear changes. It was a lot like being together in person and a lot easier than getting to the studio. It’s great to be able to keep working with Rick on my guitar playing, even as everything is shut down.
Red Guitar is Great Online! I’ve been a student of Rick’s for a while, and I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to have a guitar lesson for a long time because of the province-wide closure of, well, everything. I love Rick’s teaching and the fun I have playing guitar with him, something that isn’t lost just because we’re all stuck at home during these unprecedented times. I’ve already had two Skype guitar lessons with Rick and it’s very easy to use as long as you have a pair of headphones and a phone or a laptop! All the fun of guitar lessons brought to my own home, just like that! It’s just like being in the studio and I’m really glad the choice was made to bring Red Guitar lessons to Skype. Rick, your perseverance and kindness through everything is so greatly appreciated! I can’t thank you enough!
I have taken lessons with Rick for years now. Everything he has taught me has been important in learning how to play guitar. Even though I’ve been playing guitar for almost five years and lessons almost four I seem to learn something new every time I go there. Whether it be how to have better timing or just some tips and tricks I never knew before. You always learn something when you leave your lesson with Rick, he makes sure of it. If I were to recommend lessons a new guitarist I would say Red Guitar, someone who’s been playing for a bit – Red Guitar. You can go at any level of playing and he will teach you everything you need to know. Theory, scales and just gold old-fashion guitar playing. He’s got it all and is an amazing teacher. 11/10
I used to learn guitar by watching YouTube videos. It would take me hours to research whatever specific skill I was trying to improve, be that finger positioning for a given chord or percussive maneuvers. I tried to make my F chord more consistent multiple times over the past four years but still could never get the high E string (and sometimes other strings) to play correctly more than 30% of the time. In 5 minutes Rick was able to correct my F chord by showing me positioning that was never well explained in the dozens upon dozens of YouTube videos I had watched. Rick has fixed a number of my other mistakes as well that I would have never picked up on my own. I’m not sure how I survived before Rick, he saves so much time and I feel so much better playing now! Thank you Rick!
Fabulous lesson today. Thank you for clarifying the difficulties I was having with muting, and isolation of notes. Practise, practise, practise!
Red Guitar self-scheduling is easy-peasy! Simple and fast.
Thanks for the great lesson today. The multitude of techniques and skills that I need to learn always amazes me. I have so much to learn! I really appreciate the way you break everything down for me during the lesson to help me understand it. I look forward to the next lesson.
It was great!! 👍👍👌
Another great lesson and I have so many things to work on - the F chord, the muting! Thank you again for your patience and making the lessons fun. Always appreciated.
It was great! Learning the difference between acoustic and electric guitar while playing!!
It was great!
Another great lesson today. Thank you for taking pity on my sore fingers from practicing the "slide". I was glad to hear that my F chord is sounding better too. You are always so encouraging. I look forward to next week's lesson.
It was great! I enjoy learning the guitar from him
What a great lesson. Thanks Rick for your patience once again and for showing me how to record on Skype. I think that will be so helpful to me. I hope to have that F chord conquered for the "on the fly" playing in a song, rather than just the F chord on its own. Small steps for me! Thanks again. Looking forward to next Friday's lesson.
Top notch 🙂
It was great!!
The skype lessons work well, and are so easy. I've used my laptop and a few times just my cel phone. It's easy to follow Rick and you can always record a video just by hitting the record button in Skype. These online lessons are great, I can keep developing my guitar skills with 1 on 1 instruction and I don't even have to leave home to get it!
Thank you for your patience today with the F chord. I am determined to master it and will keep practicing the techniques and tricks you shared. Another fun, helpful, and just awesome lesson. Looking forward to next week!
It was great!
Once again, I want to thank Rick for such a great lesson. The lessons over Skype have been so helpful during this pandemic. I feel like I get the same instruction over Skype as I did in the studio, while knowing there is absolutely no risk involved. Thanks Rick. Great lesson!

I had my first Skype lesson on April 17,2020 and it went very well. The set up went well and was relatively straight forward. I set up everything myself and then realized that Rick had all the instructions online. The process was easy enough I did not need it although it would have been helpful. The sound was very clear and it was just like being in the studio. I would recommend if it is not feasible to attend an in-studio lesson then a Skype lesson will serve the same purpose. Mike Wilding
Great job as usual!
easy setup and nearly as good as an "in person" lesson. great option during the coronavirus lockdown or for anyone who's busy or not able to make it to lessons. I've been a student of Rick's for almost four years and he's been a great mentor on my guitar journey.
I just finished my first online lesson with Rick and it was so easy. It was like sitting in his studio with him. He was able to teach me the chords and the strumming patterns as he always has, with an inordinate amount of patience! I am looking forward to my next lesson. Thanks Rick.
I was apprehensive at first, but I assure that these lessons still feel familiar. Skype is as easy as answering a call on your mobile phone or signing up for an e-mail address. This gives guitar lessons a fresh aspect of flexibility. My guitar is my anchor in these trying times, I was grateful to have this experience.

Rick is just the BEST. I've been taking lessons for about 2 years now, and have really enjoyed it and learned a lot. I just switched to the online lessons, and they are great. Really clear instruction, easy to follow, and fun. I highly recommend. Skype is easy to use, and Rick is great at teaching remotely.
great lessons, works virtually as well as being in the studio!
